LEICESTERSHIRE PLAYERS IMPROVE MEDIA INTERVIEW TECHNIQUES Leicestershire players have improved their media interview techniques thanks to coaching from David Fulton, the former Kent captain. Fulton, who now works as a reporter and presenter for Sky Sports, ran a two hour session at Grace Road which combined fun with practical advice on how to cope with the demands of being interviewed by the media. The session was attended by Rob Sayer, Ben Raine, Zak Chappell, Ollie Freckingham, Paul Horton, Rob Taylor, Niall O’Brien, Jigar Naik and Atif Sheikh who were involved in dummy interviews, filming each other on their mobile phones and a critical evaluation from Fulton. ” David delivered a high energy media session which was packed with excellent content and practical exercises,” said Charlie Mulraine, one of the PCA’s six-strong team of Personal Development and Welfare Managers, who organised the training session. ” The guys spent much of the two hours on their feet practicing the techniques whilst filming each other doing dummy interviews. There was a lot of laughter in the room and the improvement in how the guys performed in front of camera by the end was clear to see. ” The guys learned about body language, voice control as well as how to deal with difficult questions. They also learned how to integrate club messages into their interviews; recognising when there’s an opportunity to help promote the club in addition to what is happening on the field.” The media training session is one of the many and varied workshops organised by the PCA Personal Development and Welfare Managers during the winter months. Last winter more than 200 players attended one of these workshops and 82 per cent of current players now have a personal development plan alongside playing. {{ak_sharing}}
