AMBROSE AND EVANS IMPROVE PUBLIC SPEAKING SKILLS Warwickshire cricketers Tim Ambrose and Laurie Evans have been working on their public speaking and presentation skills in a bespoke training session organised by the Professional Cricketers’ Association. Ambrose, a former England wicketkeeper, and batsman Evans, worked with Rob Geraghty from The WOW Factor, during the session which was aimed at bringing greater impact to their communication with others. Ambrose will have an early opportunity to put into practice what he was taught by Geraghty as he will have plenty of public speaking to do during his benefit year in 2016. ” I found it very helpful for awareness of my weaknesses which is my best way of learning and also how to react to that,” Ambrose said. ” Overall it was very helpful and I thought Rob was fantastic, helpful and positive without being patronising. Five stars from me.” Geraghty has delivered a number of sessions to county players around the country over the past two years and they have all been well received. He was invited to help Ambrose and Evans by Lynsey Williams, one of the PCA’s six-strong team of Personal Development and Welfare Managers, who is responsible for Warwickshire and Worcestershire. ” I thought it was a great session. Being active during the session are exactly the type of methods I enjoy and get the most out of,” Evans said. ” Rob came across very well and made it easy and comfortable to openly talk about the problems I face with public speaking. An excellent session.” The session with Rob Geraghty was one of the many and varied workshops organised by the PCA Personal Development and Welfare Managers during the winter months. Last winter more than 200 players attended one of these workshops and 82 per cent of current players now have a personal development plan alongside playing. {{ak_sharing}}
