WORCESTERSHIRE SWAP CRICKET FOR COOKING Worcestershire players swapped cricket for cooking during a day in the kitchen at Red Hen Cookery in Worcester. The day was organised by Lynsey Williams, one of the PCA’s six-strong team of Personal Development and Welfare Managers, and formed part of the squad’s on-going Personal Development Programme. During the session the players were taught a range of cooking skills and how to cook meat and vegetables in different and interesting ways to retain all the important nutrients. ” It was a brilliant day which concentrated on improving cooking skills and knowledge,” Williams said. ” This is the first time that the Worcestershire players have done a cookery class. We have done sessions on trade skills in the past but this was organised in response to the players’ desire to make their diet more interesting. ” They all receive nutritional advice on what food is good for them, this session helped them to find new ideas for cooking for the food that is their fuel in different ways. ” They were also taught the science behind the recipes and the skills that they were taught will hopefully have benefits for the players while they are training and playing. ” Thank you to Red Hen Cookery in St Johns for arranging a day that was both great fun and educational.” The Worcestershire players who took part in the cookery session were Jack Shantry, Alexei Kervezee, Josh Tongue, Ben Cox, Ed Barnard, Joe Leach and Charlie Morris. {{ak_sharing}}
