solanki appointed new fica president Vikram Solanki, the former Professional Cricketers’ Association Chairman, has been appointed the new President of the Federation of International Cricketers’ Associations The former Worcestershire, Surrey and England international batsman succeeds Jimmy Adams who has stepped down from his FICA role following his appointment as the new West Indies Director of Cricket. Solanki, 40, retired from playing two years ago having played in 51 One Day Internationals and scored more than 30,000 first-class runs. He was PCA Chairman from 2009 to 2013 and is now Surrey’s assistant coach. ” I am privileged to accept the position as FICA President and look forward to having a hands on contribution to the organisation and to the player cause around the world. It is an important time for cricket, for FICA and for the players it represents,” Solanki said. ” I am excited to have the opportunity to be a part of ensuring that the players’ voices are heard and that they are involved in shaping the future of the global game.” Tony Irish, FICA’s Executive Chairman, said: ” The FICA Board wishes Jimmy Adams all the best in his new role and thanks him for the significant contribution he has made to FICA during his tenure. ” We are happy to have secured Vikram Solanki as our new President. Vikram’s background as both an international player and as a player advocate will be a big asset to FICA. “His appointment will complement the appointments of Lisa Sthalekar and Graeme Smith as Independent Board Members in 2016, ensuring we have an experienced Board which oversees our representation of players around the world.”
