Vote now for August POTM

Following another fantastic month of cricket, it’s time to vote for August’s PCA Players of the Month.

Using the PCA’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) Rankings, powered by OFX, the eight highest performing players have been selected, with the two prize winners being determined by a combination of public votes and the MVP.

August will see a pair of new players rewarded for their efforts in 2026, with none of the nominees having received a Player of the Month trophy so far this season. Previous winners include Craig Overton – who has been named Player of the Month an unprecedented three times – and Maia Bouchier.

Having fired Manchester Super Giants to their first title in The Hundred and being named the competition’s Player of the Year, Kiwi batter Tim Seifert also finished topped of the monthly rankings with 147.61 MVP points. His opening partner in that tournament, Paul Walter, was a close second after also shining with the bat. Joe Clarke continued his superb season to be shortlisted for the second time this summer, while run machine Jake Libby is also included after a sublime month.

Like Seifert, Annabel Sutherland secured more MVP points than any other women’s player in August having also been named The Hundred Player of the Year. She finished with 129.16 in total, nearly 30 clear of Charlie Dean in second place, the England spinner producing fine performances for both London Spirit and Somerset. Sutherland’s Australian teammate Phoebe Litchfield once again shone in The Hundred and was third, with The Blaze and Manchester Super Giants all-rounder Kathryn Bryce completing a competitive list.

The Hundred concluded with an exciting Finals Day in the middle of August, while the Metro Bank One Day Cup also reached the knockout stages before the Rothesay County Championship returned for two rounds.

There was little anyone could do to stop Seifert at the top of the Manchester Super Giants batting order, with the New Zealand international finishing as the tournament’s second highest run-scorer and a total of 147.61 MVP points.

The 31-year-old’s tally of 286 runs in August came at an average of 71.50 and included four half-centuries in six innings. He produced three Match MVP performances, including in the final as his 72 off 38 balls fired Super Giants to victory.

Coming into the team halfway through The Hundred, Walter wasted no time getting down to business as he smashed 247 runs in his five innings, including 80 off 46 balls with three fours and eight sixes in the Eliminator against SunRisers Leeds.

He also scored 64 against Southern Brave and took two wickets during the tournament, before returning to Essex and scoring 95 further runs in their two County Championship matches to finish with 136.52 MVP points.

Clarke was a measure of consistency at the top of the Phoenix order during August, scoring 196 runs in five innings with two half-centuries. This included a brilliant 73 off 42 balls against London Spirit in their penultimate group game.

Returning to Nottinghamshire, his stunning red-ball form this season continued with 95 against Surrey before he crafted a superb 150 against Warwickshire, taking him past 1,000 First-Class runs in 2026 and earning him a Match MVP award with 40.47 points, taking his August tally to 121.76.

Worcestershire’s 50-over captain was in unbelievable form throughout August, scoring 552 runs in just seven innings with four centuries to his name. This included scores of 109, 109* and 105 in his first three innings of the month in the One Day Cup, following on from another score of 109* on the final day of July.

Libby then shared a first wicket partnership of 244 with Daniel Lategan in the Rothesay County Championship, finishing 107* as Worcestershire recorded a remarkable eight-wicket win to keep their promotion hopes alive. Another half-century against Lancashire followed in the next game as he finished with 114.97 MVP points.

Trent Rockets were in dominant form throughout The Hundred and claimed the title midway through August, beating SunRisers Leeds in the final. The Women’s Metro Bank One Day Cup then returned as the season began to draw to a close.

Australian all-rounder Sutherland once again showed why she’s one of the world’s best during The Hundred, exhibiting remarkable consistency with bat and ball as she led SunRisers Leeds to the final and finished as the tournament’s leading run scorer.

The 24-year-old’s 228 runs and nine wickets during August’s games saw her secure 129.16 MVP points, while she was awarded two Match MVPs for performances against Manchester Super Giants (62* and 2-17) and Trent Rockets (59* and 2-26) in the group stages.

After captaining England earlier this summer, Dean led from the front for London Spirit during their The Hundred campaign, taking 10 wickets at a remarkable average of 10.30 across their five games in August.

This included three-wicket hauls against MI London and Birmingham Phoenix, before she returned to Somerset and starred with the bat, her innings of 76 guiding them to an important three-wicket victory over Durham. In total, she earned 101.32 MVP points.

Alongside fellow Australian Sutherland, opener Phoebe Litchfield showed her class throughout The Hundred to finish as the second highest run-scorer and play a crucial role in helping SunRisers Leeds reach the final.

She scored 221 runs in August, including a blistering 71* off 33 balls against Birmingham Phoenix that saw her earn a Match MVP award, with the left-hander earning another Match MVP two days later with a half-century against Welsh Fire to take her MVP points total to 97.10.

The ever-dependable Bryce highlighted her class with bat and ball throughout the month, with her standout performance being a sparkling 136 for The Blaze against Durham in the One Day Cup which, alongside a wicket, saw her win the Match MVP and her team take a step closer to the final.

She followed that up with a score of 45 and figures of 1-32 in another win for The Blaze a few days later, meaning she finished with 204 runs, six wickets and 90.95 MVP points across six matches in the 50-over competition and The Hundred.

The PCA’s Most Valuable Player Rankings, powered by OFX, picks out the game’s top performers across every single fixture. This then forms the rankings for each competition, as well as an overall table which is how the top four are selected. The MVP takes into account batting, bowling and fielding contributions and match defining achievements using a unique live algorithm developed by CricViz.

The PCA Player of the Month will be decided by a 50:50 split between the PCA MVP Rankings and the public vote above – the poll will close on Wednesday 2 September at 10pm.
