PCA England Masters Help Raise Thousands This has been another fantastic year for the star-studded England Masters, which has seen the squad travel the length and breadth of the country taking on club sides to help them raise significant funds. The players visited 11 recreational clubs in all, as well as taking on a Phil Mustard XI for his benefit year fixture. The total amount raised from these games was a staggering £ 160,000. The clubs will each be putting these funds to different uses, including investment in coaching and facility re-developments, as well as supporting local charitable causes. This summer wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Greene King, who at the start of 2016 committed to a five-year sponsorship deal of the Masters programme. At the recent NatWest PCA Awards, Greene King Marketing Director, George Johnston, and PCA England Masters Captain, Mark Ramprakash, were on hand to be photographed with a cheque to signify the money raised through the help of the British brewing brand. The summer was just as successful on the field as off. In total 31 former England stars stepped out for the team, with an incredible 1,678 international appearances, 29,852 runs and 2,209 wickets between them. The race to the Greene King Most Valuable Player of 2016 was won by former Lancashire and Northamptonshire opening batsman Mal Loye, who edged out Owais Shah and Alex Tudor. With Loye unable to attend the NatWest PCA Awards, Ramprakash accepted the award on his behalf. Loye adds the accolade to his previous Young Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year titles, which he won in 1993 and 1998 respectively. The PCA England Masters are already looking forward to another exciting season in 2017 with a number of clubs holding dates to host the team.
