Players have come together to celebrate LGBTQ+ participation in cricket by supporting Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign from 25-28 August.
Professionals from around the country who represent teams with the colour of the rainbow have donned their kits and got involved with the PCA’s video supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Featuring in the short video that you can watch below is Tammy Beaumont, Georgia Elwiss, Aneurin Donald, Gavin Griffiths, Naomi Dattani, Harry Brook and Pheobe Graham.
The players are helping to raise the game and ensure that cricket is a sport for all.
It is the fifth time that the game has come together supporting the campaign and rainbow symbols will feature throughout the weekend in the Royal London Cup quarter-finals, The Hundred and the Test match between England and South Africa at Emirates Old Trafford.
There is no place in cricket for homophobic language or behaviour and it is important that everyone in the game feels welcome no matter your background.
PCA Chief Executive, Rob Lynch, said: “It gives me great pride knowing that the PCA and the wider game is behind Rainbow Laces. We all have a part to play to make sure that the LGBTQ+ community feel welcome in cricket and that’s why it’s so important to support this campaign.
“With the addition of our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Working Group we are working hard on making sure cricket is inclusive and can celebrate equality and diversity.”
