Beyond the Boundaries issue 39

September’s edition of the PCA’s new Beyond the Boundaries hub of stories, features and entertainment is available now.

Issue 39 looks into the support the Cricketers’ Trust offered to former Surrey bowler Matt Dunn following the tragic passing of his daughter Florence in an exclusive interview at the Kia Oval.

Diagnosed with dravet syndrome at six months old, Florence suffered severe, unpredictable seizures. The 34-year-old describes how the Trust stepped in when he was ‘broken’ and supported him and his family through a horrendous time.

His wife, Jess, was pregnant, they faced a new mortgage and were financially stretched. The Trust immediately intervened, offering counselling and a financial roadmap to recovery. This critical relief allowed Dunn to process his grief and successfully transition to a post-cricket career in cyber security.

Dunn asserts during the interview, “I owe my situation today and where I’ve rebuilt my life solely down to the Cricketers’ Trust.”

Recently retired Jack Davies has penned a column on his decision to hang up his boots and the epic challenge that he is undertaking to raise money for the Cricketers’ Trust and the Brompton Fountain.

The 26-year-old is running 24 marathons in 24 days, a staggering distance of 1,012 km, around Battersea Park with some well-known guests helping him along the way.
