Hurtling from the shortest format straight into the 50-over game, Kathryn Bryce speaks to Georgia Elwiss about her incredible month of all-round success.
Women’s PCA Player of the Month Kathryn Bryce enjoyed a prolific August, taking a wicket in all six games she played and scoring 204 runs for Manchester Super Giants and The Blaze.
The highlight for Bryce was her third-wicket stand with former England all-rounder and PCA Vice Chair Georgia Elwiss in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
For issue 39 of Beyond the Boundaries, the pair sat down to dig deeper into the month, discussing tactical decisions, differing conditions and the tempo of their play as they shifted between formats in a packed August schedule.

In Bryce’s standout performance, the pair came together at 55-2 after 11.1 overs and quickly took control, with Elwiss motoring to a career-best 134 not out from 110 balls.
Bryce’s innings of 136 from 138 deliveries ended with the score on 286-3 from 43.4 overs. Blaze eventually posted 356-4, leaving Durham an unassailable target in their rain-affected chase .
Bryce was Match MVP, earning 32.73 points from the game, more than a third of her monthly total of 90.95. It was the public and her peers, though, that secured the 28-year-old the prize, as she won a commanding 63% of the vote.
“From a personal point of view, I was just trying to keep it as simple as possible for as long as possible — just occupy the crease for a long time and put a partnership together.
“We didn’t ease ourselves in whatsoever. It was a big shift from The Hundred format, and it was about finding those changes in tempo and shifting as quickly as possible between your game plans.
“It’s been a different sort of year with the conditions. It’s been so dry out there that a lot more of the sweeps against spinners came into play throughout the month.
“That’s probably a big part of the game — trying to be as consistent as possible and adapt to the conditions. I want to be able to put performances in with both bat and ball.
“Looking at the partnership number and knowing that we were ticking away run-a-ball was a really good place to be in… we didn’t really think of a score until maybe the last 10 overs really, when you can push on.”
After back-to-back wins in 2024 and 2025, Bryce is 15th in the Women’s Domestic Overall rankings for 2026, having missed portions of the domestic season to lead Scotland at the T20 World Cup.
”I always think when I'm out there in the middle, the girls are probably having loads of fun on the sidelines – I wonder what they're talking about. But actually, when we're both out there together, they can't possibly be having more fun!
