Introduction
Shenfield Cricket Club of the Hamro Foundation Essex League is seeking to appoint a new Head Coach. The club has thriving senior and junior sections and five senior Saturday men’s XI’s and in the past five years, we’ve also introduced a women and girls programme which is now growing at pace.

The club has a strong foundation with our 2nd, 3rd and 4th XIs now competing in their respective Premier League’s. Our age group teams have been competing strongly in their respective competitions over the past five years, with our U16 squads reaching the final of the Essex 40 over Matchplay competition in each of the past three years. The club has produced two professional cricketers since 2013 with multiple U19 players now part of the Essex age group set up, including two now being on the Essex academy.

We are looking for a Head Coach to harness this potential and provide the catalyst for the strengthening of our 1st XI in the coming years with a lot of homegrown, talented young cricketers making their way in the club game and beyond. We’re also looking for someone who will buy into the ethos of the club and lead the club’s coaching programme, which will see sessions delivered for over 200 registered boys and girls aged 16 and under, and provide a strong base for long-term success in our men’s and women’s teams.

In return, the club can offer a unique opportunity to work at a family orientated club at a great location with the potential for training camps to be hosted at the club during the school holidays and a significant number of 1-1 coaching sessions coming as a result of consistently working with the club at all levels.

Main Purpose of the Role
As Head Coach at Shenfield CC, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality sessions to young participants through our weekly coaching sessions, as well as deliver senior training and provide guidance/support to our youth coaches to deliver coaching excellence and offer guidance to our age group managers.

It will also be your responsibility to ensure we have enough qualified and support coaches at each age group training session to ensure they are delivered to the highest possible standard which helps set the club up for long-term success.

Vital for the role is having the ability to communicate effectively with the Club Captain, Youth Chair, Women and Girls Lead and senior men’s Team Captain’s on session plans and in some cases, provide team selection advice.

Key responsibilities
• Work with appropriate people at Shenfield CC to assist in developing a season-long coaching plan for senior cricket at the club.
• Plan, lead and run senior training minimum once a week throughout the season.
• Plan and deliver all Saturday first XI game day warm-up sessions.
• Deliver and plan all women and girls and youth training, and attend fixtures when appropriate.

Experience
• Previous playing experience at 1st XI club cricket level. Playing experience at First-Class level an advantage.
• Previous experience of being a Cricket Club Head Coach, both for youth and senior teams, including senior 1st team match day support.

Qualifications
• Minimum – ECB Level 2 (Core Coach) or equivalent. Preferred – Level 3 (Advanced Coach) or equivalent.
• Hold a valid enhanced DBS, Safeguarding Young Cricketers and First Aid Qualifications (or willingness to obtain prior to the commencement of employment)
