In the men’s game, Ahmed secured a staggering 57 per cent of the public vote in a month that saw him achieve 151.79 MVP points. The Leicestershire all-rounder finished ahead of Worcestershire’s Ethan Brookes in second, with Lancashire’s Chris Green and Surrey’s Will Jacks in third and fourth respectively.

Another Blast MVP came against Durham as Lamb earnt 36.05 MVP points for her innings of 74 off 48 balls.

Lamb’s best knock of the month came against Essex at Sedbergh as she produced a blistering 142 off just 105 balls to help her side to victory by 138 runs, earning a further 30.07 MVP points.

After starring with the bat in July, Lamb said: “It’s nice to get this award as I’ve been nominated a few times this year and this is actually the first time in my life that I’ve won it.

“It’s lovely to hear that the public are voting for me and I’m sure that the Lancashire girls where backing me there too which helps and it’s great to finally win the PCA Player of the Month award.

“I’ve been confident this month and I’ve had a decent amount of cricket and felt confident going into games and clear with how I want to play.

“The 142 against Essex was my favourite innings of the month it was at Sedbergh as well which is one of the nicest grounds, I felt like I could have gone on and got more that day.

“The Tier 1 system has meant more games and that helps me and that’s been really good and I’m keen for that to continue.

“Hopefully in The Hundred the Phoenix can get through the latter stages of the competition and it’s always a fun competition to be a part of.”

Rehan Ahmed wins his first PCA Player of the Month

An incredible all-round month for Ahmed saw the Leicestershire man score a phenomenal 427 runs at an average of 71.16 and taking 16 wickets to secure 151.79 MVP points.

The 20-year-old picked up two Match MVP awards in the month, earning 78.90 points against Derbyshire – the highest Match MVP points total of 2025 – thanks to a brilliant innings of 115 in the first innings, followed up by amazing match figures of 13-144.

Ahmed scored back-to-back hundreds in the County Championship, amassing 119 against Kent the week after his heroics at Derby.

He also picked up a Match MVP in the Vitality Blast against Northamptonshire Steelbacks, gaining 25.65 points for an unbeaten innings of 52 off 30 balls as Leicestershire won by six wickets.

On winning the award, Ahmed said: “It’s the first time I’ve won it and I saw the other guys nominated and I didn’t think I’d win this one, but I’m very happy to. We work hard as cricketers so to get recognition is great. It’s been a good season and I feel like I’m in form.

“I don’t think I’ll ever forget the month just gone, I had good games against Derbyshire and Kent and I’ve been working hard and with things going my way I feel like I’m in a good place and it’s been nice to get wickets and runs in the same game.

“I’ve always enjoyed bowling with the Kookaburra ball, I think the Dukes is a bit slippery and a lot of wrist spinners say that, with the Kookaburra I actually prefer it and I get to bowl way more overs with it, I always seem to bowl well in those games.

“I want to get promoted with Leicestershire this season and keep getting runs and wickets for them and then for The Hundred I want to make a difference for the (Trent) Rockets but it’s hard because there’s so many good players.

“I want to play for England in the Ashes and be involved in as much cricket as I can, but I know that when Baz (Brendon McCullum) thinks it’s right for me to play, I’ll play. I hope that the opportunity comes and that it’s great fun.”
