Tremlett Wins Frizzell Award For June – 08/07/2005 It is no surprise that many of the players nominated for the Frizzell PCA Performance of the Month prize for June are the same as those hoping for a tilt at the Aussies this summer – and it is England new boy Chris Tremlett who has taken the prestigious award. Hampshire Form However, it was Tremlett’s form for his county Hampshire which earned him both the England call-up and the Frizzell PCA award – and in particular his remarkable hat-trick against Nottinghamshire who appeared to be cruising at 250 for 4 before Tremlett’s quick strikes turned the match in his side’s favour. Hoggard The Batsman Tremlett pipped fellow England paceman Matthew Hoggard of Yorkshire to the Frizzell PCA award, although it was Hoggard’s display with the bat rather than the ball which won him almost a quarter of the monthly nominations. The best performances in the Frizzell County Championship are nominated each month by a panel including county PCA representatives plus ex-England bowler Gladstone Small and England Chairman of Selectors David Graveney.
