New Zealand and Australian internationals crowned Hundred Players of the Year

Tim Seifert and Annabel Sutherland have been named The Hundred Players of the Year after topping the PCA’s MVP standings.
The two overseas players earned over 150 points each as they led their sides to the final at Lord’s, with Seifert playing the starring role in the Super Giants’ first ever Hundred title.
Seifert claims Men's Hundred Player of the Year
The Kiwi opener blasted 72 from 37 balls in his side’s pursuit of 159, an innings that earned him 39.53 MVP points and secured him as this season’s Player of the Year.
With 394 runs at an average of 56.28, striking at 169.09, it was an incredible tournament for the 31-year-old, as he racked up 177.73 MVP points on his way to both individual and team victory.
Earlier in the competition, in a devastating 10-wicket win over SunRisers Leeds, Seifert struck 80 from just 40 balls, combining with Paul Walter to chase down Leeds’ 128 without loss. With five fours and seven sixes, the innings earned him 46.59 MVP points and the Match MVP award.
Another Match MVP performance came against Welsh Fire in another ruthless run chase. Reaching Fire’s 155 just one wicket down, the New Zealand international’s 62 from 36 balls gave the Super Giants their first win in four games, a vital boost on their route to the title.
Securing his win, Seifert said: “The main thing is we won tonight and we ticked that off, but what an amazing last five games.
“From the get-go we had a well-balanced side and a lot of people chipped in when they needed too.
“I think Daws [Liam Dawson] always had it under control, but that’s cricket isn’t it? It was great we got over the line and that Daws could hit the winning runs.”
SunRisers Leeds’ Mitchell Marsh ended the tournament in second place and leading run scorer of the competition. Smashing 416 runs at a strike-rate of 169.79 at the top of the order, the Australian’s average of 46.22 shows how relentless his season has been. The 34-year-old hit 69 off 34 balls in Leeds’ nail-biting win against Southern Brave, one of his two Match MVP performances.
London Spirit captain Liam Livingstone claimed third place after scoring 233 runs and taking two wickets in the tournament. The all-rounder turned up when it mattered most, particularly against Manchester Super Giants. He scored 69 off 40 balls and took 2-14 with the ball in hand, giving him a whopping 51.22 MVP points in the game.
Sutherland crowned Women's Hundred Player of the Year
Seifert and Sutherland both receive trophies produced by EFX, alongside £5,000 in prize money for winning The Hundred Players of the Year, due to finishing top of the PCA’s Most Valuable Player Rankings, powered by OFX.
The MVP takes into account expected performance on every ball according to CricViz’s extensive database. The algorithm calculates batting, bowling and fielding performances as well as match defining contributions and considers the historic performances of the venue each fixture is being played at. Therefore, providing a more accurate reflection of the top performers in the game compared to traditional batting and bowling averages.
Winning The Hundred Women’s Player of the Year award for a second time in three seasons, Sutherland’s impact with bat, ball and in the field took SunRisers Leeds all the way to the final. With 315 runs, 11 wickets and seven catches in 10 games, her 180.75 MVP points left her 29 points clear of Marizanne Kapp in second place.
With incredible averages of exactly 63 with the bat and 20.81 with the ball, the all-rounder claimed three Match MVPs. An unbeaten 62 from 26 balls, 2-19 from her 20 deliveries and two catches earned the 24-year-old 36.97 points against Manchester Super Giants, her highest tally in any game of the competition.
Her second half-century came against eventual champions Trent Rockets, as she stormed to 59 from 30 deliveries. The Australian international picked up two wickets in the Rockets innings too, giving her 36.37 points for the match.
Against MI London, she hit 30 from 23 balls to win her side the game. A miserly 1-14 from her 20 balls in the first innings also contributed to the 21.63 points that earned the all-rounder yet another Match MVP.
On winning the award, Sutherland said: “It was nice to have that consistent contribution throughout. I’ve absolutely loved the season with the girls, I thought we built really nicely.
“Credit to Trent Rockets, they were the best team all season, they deserve to be up there today.
“I’m really proud of the group and the way we gathered ourselves and found a way to win games and do that really consistently through the middle bit of the tournament.”
Despite the 29-point gap separating Sutherland from the competition, there were strong performances at the top of the women’s MVP table. South African all-rounder Kapp claimed second place despite playing just seven games, accruing 151.75 overall MVP points, with 79.68 batting points and 68.06 bowling points. Leading the Spirit to victory at Lord’s, Kapp smashed an unbeaten 57 from 28 balls and took 1-10 off 15 balls in one of her three Match MVP performances.
England opening batter Sophia Dunkley topped the batting rankings and finished third in the overall table, with 301 runs at an average of 37.62 and 145.42 overall MVP points. The 28-year-old’s 41 from 23 balls steered Trent Rockets to victory in the final, helping Rockets to their first ever women’s title in The Hundred.
