TOM ALLIN, FORMER WARWICKSHIRE SEAMER HAS DIED AT THE AGE OF 28 Tom Allin the former Warwickshire seamer, has died suddenly in his native Devon aged 28. Allin was the son of former Glamorgan slow left-armer Tony Allin and he spent six seasons on the staff at Warwickshire, initially while he was studying at university in Cardiff. Allin played for Cardiff MCCU in his first three seasons with Warwickshire and made his senior debut for the county in a one day match against Surrey at Edgbaston in August 2011. His first-class debut came in a drawn County Championship match against Middlesex at Edgbaston two years later where he bowled 17 wicketless overs. Allin was released by Warwickshire at the end of the 2013 season and he returned to Devon where he played for the North Devon club at Instow. Allin also played Minor Counties cricket for Devon, making his debut for them in 2007 followed by further appearances last summer including one against Wales on his home club ground. Jason Ratcliffe, Assistant Chief Executive of the Professional Cricketers’ Association, said: ” We are saddened to learn of Tom Allin’s death. He was a popular member of the playing staff at Warwickshire for six seasons and a valued member of the PCA. ” Our condolences go to Tom’s family, particularly his father Tony who is also a PCA member from his own playing career with Glamorgan in 1976. ” We also extend our sympathy to North Devon Cricket Club, Tom’s home club. We have a close association with North Devon who hosted a fund-raising dinner for the PCA Professional Cricketers’ Trust and Tom Maynard Trust during Big Bike Ride 2 in October. ” Our thoughts and sympathy are with all who knew or played alongside Tom Allin. ” The PCA will offer support to Tom’s family and former team mates at this difficult time.” {{ak_sharing}}
