Time to Change’s ‘Time to Talk’ Day The Professional Cricketers’ Association is supporting today’sTime to Talk Day 2015 initiative by encouraging its members to take five minutes out of their day to have a conversation about mental health. Mark Wallace, the PCA chairman, led the way by Tweeting a photo of himself wearing one of the Time to Talk T shirts that have been sent to the PCA representatives at the 18 first-class counties. Jason Ratcliffe, assistant chief executive of the PCA, said:” Knowing that one in four of us will suffer from a mental health episode whether large or small, in any year, the stats are extremely compelling as to why we need to raise awareness and educate people. ” Several PCA members, notably Marcus Trescothick have led our attempt to help our own members and the wider general public. ” We’ll continue to create new initiatives and work with Mind, Time to change to do this and continually reduce stigma in this important area.” Mental health problems affect one in four people every year, yet too often people are afraid to talk about their experiences because they fear it will affect their jobs or relationships. That’s not right and it’s why we need your help today to break the silence and end the stigma. We all have mental health, just like we all have physical health, so you don’t need to be an expert to have a conversation today. Take five with a friend to find out how they’re doing, watch and share our film or have a conversation online – these are all small things you can do to make a big difference. Once you’ve had your conversation, don’t forget to come back and record it on our interactive counter. By midnight tonight, we want the counter to show at least 24 hours’ worth of conversations, so make sure you remember to log your five minutes.
