PCA statement on ECB media rights deal David Leatherdale, PCA Chief Executive, said: ” We are delighted to hear the news that the England and Wales Cricket Board have secured a new media rights deal from 2020 to 2024 which will see a significant amount of new revenue invested into the game. ” We are also greatly encouraged that Colin Graves, the ECB Chairman, has acknowledged that professional cricketers in England and Wales – both men and women – have a major role to play in promoting and developing the game and that they should be rewarded accordingly. ” It is the players who provide the entertainment, who help to inspire others to get involved in cricket and whose willingness to accept and adapt to changes in the structure of professional cricket will be significant in helping the ECB to grow the game at all levels. ” Our members have been supportive of the introduction of a new domestic T20 competition from the 2020 season onwards which will see further changes to the structure of county cricket. ” Our conversations with the ECB around those developments are continuing alongside discussions about the benefits that the new media rights deal will bring to all PCA members, whether they are a centrally-contracted England player or a player in the first year of their county contract.”
