Trent Rockets all-rounders win Player of the Month trophies

Trent Rocket duo Georgia Adams and Craig Overton have won the PCA Player of the Month awards for July.
The Somerset and Hampshire all-rounders were shortlisted for the awards using the PCA’s Most Valuable Player Rankings, powered by OFX. The unique algorithm selected the top four men’s and women’s players before they faced a public vote, with the winners decided by a 50:50 split between the two.
Having finished second in the MVP points scoring for the month, a strong public vote of 33 per cent helped Adams secure the trophy ahead of The Blaze’s Australian all-rounder Charli Knott in second. Durham teammates Hollie Armitage and Heather Graham were third and fourth respectively.
Incredibly, in the men’s game, Overton picks up his third Player of the Month award in 2026 securing over 50 per cent of the public vote. Derbyshire’s Aneurin Donald was a popular choice in the poll too, finishing in second place with Hampshire and MI London’s James Vince third and Yorkshire’s Adam Lyth in fourth.
Adams wins women’s Player of the Month
Adams produced a strong all-round month of performances, taking 10 wickets with an average of 15.1 and scoring 180 runs, whilst captaining Hampshire to spot at Vitality Blast Finals Day.
Picking up two Match MVP awards in July, the 32-year-old scored 49 off 30 balls with seven fours and two sixes against The Blast alongside phenomenal figures of 4-16 in a 23-run win, adding 47.41 MVP points to her tally.
Against Warwickshire, Adams took 2-21 and smashed 53 off 29 balls including seven fours and a six in a four wicket-win, earning 36.02 MVP points.
On winning the award Adams said: “The award came as a pleasant surprise as I was aware there were some brilliant performances in July especially from Charli Knott, but very honoured for people’s support and to win PCA Player of the Month.
“July was good fun, we reflected a lot as a team and about the mentality of how to play the game, all the coaches at Hampshire have been great, I’ve been working on taking the game on a bit more. It’s been nice face the new ball again and just focus on hitting the ball harder.
“I then had to change going down the order in The Hundred, I have an appreciation of how hard that role is but I’ve worked hard on it and with my experience I feel I can bat in most places.
“I wish I could approach batting the same way as my bowling by keeping it simple, I still work hard and I’m grateful for being able to bowl in the clutch moments but I just try and bowl at the stumps.
“The Warwickshire game was good, I had a conversation with Brad Taylor our coach and I was frustrated at getting 30s and then getting out so that game was good to get the half-century which I was really hungry for.”
Overton secures third POTM award of 2026
The all-round prowess of Overton was on display once again in July with 129 runs, dismissed just once whilst picking up 12 wickets with an average of 23.42 and taking 12 catches.
The 32-year-old England international’s performance of the month came against Yorkshire, winning the Match MVP by taking figures of 2-36 and then hitting a remarkable 79 off just 30 balls batting at number nine with eight fours and five sixes to earn 49.59 MVP points.
Overton has also been in form in The Hundred taking 3-23 against Manchester Super Giants in a six-wicket victory and finds himself with a sizeable lead in the PCA Men’s Domestic Overall MVP.
Having won July’s award, Overton said: “That Yorkshire innings I just tried to hit a few boundaries and get it close and I managed to slog a few and get it across the line.
“We snuck our way into Finals Day and didn’t quite get it right but with my batting this year, I’ve done a lot of red ball work and it’s transferred into white ball cricket and thankfully I’ve had a few opportunities where I’ve been able to bat this year.
“Winning these awards is great but it’s all about winning games for Somerset and Trent Rockets and this shows that I’ve been helping to win games of cricket.
“It’s great to get that recognition from the public and know that it’s not just my brother (Jamie Overton) voting for me. It means a lot that it’s voted for by the fans and it’s nice to be seen as someone that is contributing.
“Being top of the MVP is great, but I’m just going to continue winning games of cricket with Somerset and Rockets and if that helps me win the PCA Overall MVP, then happy days.”
