England And Australia Play The Ashes Golf Challenge 2009 To Benefit Child Bereavement Charity – 02/06/2009 England and Australia will be locking horns again during this Ashes summer – but this time at golf, to benefit the Child Bereavement Charity. Cricket’s ultimate golfing challenge will take place on Tuesday July 21st 2009, between the 2nd and 3rd Test Matches, hosted by Sir Michael Parkinson on Stoke Park Club’s championship golf course. Sir Michael and the Professional Cricketers’ Association have brought together a prospect to savour. Shane Warne joins captains Ricky Ponting and Andrew Strauss and a host of current and former England and Australian players as they battle it out for the trophy, with all proceeds going to support bereaved children and families through the work of the Child Bereavement Charity. The Charity recently announced Prince William as Royal Patron in a speech which was reported around the world. Since then it has seen a major increase in demand for services, as many more bereaved children, families, and related caring professionals have become aware of the support on offer. The charity provide vital support, information and training to all those affected by the death of a baby or child, or when a child is bereaved. Full team line-ups will be announced once more details are known about the make up and golfing prowess of the two test sides, but it is sure to be an occasion to savour. As Sir Michael Parkinson says "Put the Poms up against the Aussies at anything and it’ll become more than just a game. I am pretty sure this will be a golf day everyone will remember. Will it be competitive? What do you think?" Each cricketer will lead a fourball, providing a once in a lifetime opportunity for cricket mad golfers to take up the other 3 places in each team, for what promises to be a truly memorable and enjoyable day. 18 holes and refreshments will be followed by evening dinner, with a Q&A for some of the senior players, hosted by Sir Michael Parkinson, and a charity auction.
