Trott Collects FTI MVP Winter Award – 10/05/11 Jonathan Trott has topped the FTI MVP Rankings for the 2010/11 winter after cementing his position as England’s most consistent batsmen across both the Test and 50 over formats of the game. He amassed an impressive 244 points, which saw off competition from skipper Andrew Strauss and last year’s winner Graeme Swann, finishing with a huge 80 point lead courtesy of 1,242 runs which included four hundred and seven fifties. The 2010/11 FTI MVP Rankings cover the period from the end of the 2010 domestic season to the start of the 2011 international season. Trott’s performances during this time were instrumental in England’s Ashes success, where he contributed 445 runs, scoring 15.54% of England’s runs. It was, however, his consistency in the one-day format which saw him pull away from his colleagues. He scored 797 one-day runs at a strike rate of 81 runs per 100 balls with two hundreds and six fifties. Over the course of the winter, the England team won their first Ashes series on Australian soil in 24 years, doing so in emphatic style. They went on to reach the last eight of the ICC Cricket World Cup before succumbing to the eventual finalists, Sri Lanka. Back on home soil, they now face India and Sri Lanka in what is sure to be one of the toughest summers of cricket for a number of years.
