three charities behind Cricket United celebrate the summer’s biggest transfer coup The three charities behind Cricket United – Lord’s Taverners, Chance to Shine and PCA Professional Cricketers’ Trust – were celebrating the summer’s biggest transfer coup today, with 2005 Ashes winning captain Michael Vaughan signing up as the campaign’s official ambassador. Ten years on from England’s famous Ashes series victory, BBC Test Match Special and Channel 5 cricket pundit Vaughan is aiming to evoke the spirit of 2005 at the same ground where he lifted the famous urn to encourage cricket fans, players and partners to help improve lives through cricket. Following its success in 2013 and 2014, Cricket United Day returns for a third year at the Kia Oval on Saturday 22 August 2015 during 5th Investec Ashes Test. Funds raised by the UK’s biggest cricket charity awareness and fundraising day will help: Lord’s Taverners provide more opportunities for disadvantaged and disabled young people to enjoy the benefits of playing cricket and other sports Chance to Shine to spread the power of cricket in schools and communities PCA Professional Cricketers’ Trust continue to run a confidential helpline, providing advice and treatment to players suffering from mental health issues Cricket United ambassador, Michael Vaughan, said: ” I think cricket needs to realise what a family it is and Cricket United sums it up perfectly for me, three great charities all come together to help improve lives through cricket. ” I’m very proud to be the official ambassador for the 2015 campaign and hopefully by the time Cricket United day comes around England will be close to lifting the Ashes urn which is as important as anything! ” We are supporting three great cricketing charities and everyone involved in cricket in either a professional or amateur capacity has an affiliation to Cricket United.
