In the latest PCA vodcast, host David Fulton is joined by a panel of guests who can all offer their expert insights into the business side of cricket.
Having previously been Managing Director of the 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, Elworthy is now Director of Special Projects at the ECB, whilst first-class umpire Saggers and Hegg, now Business Manager at Lancashire CCC, have also stayed in the game in their own respective ways.
- Elworthy took up his current position following the conclusion of last summer’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, and has worked in various roles at the ECB since 2008. He is set to be heavily involved in the launch of the Hundred, which has been postponed from 2020 to 2021 owing to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
- Saggers is also an employee of the ECB, albeit in a very different capacity. The former Kent man has remained on the pitch as a first-class umpire since 2012.
- Famed for his presence behind the stumps, Hegg has now become a major figure behind the scenes at Emirates Old Trafford as the Business Manager of Lancashire County Cricket Club. The former wicketkeeper works mainly on sponsorship and branding opportunities in professional cricket, whilst also appearing for the PCA England Masters during the English summer.
The vodcast is the sixth and final of a series in partnership with Greene King. Last week saw Daryl Mitchell, Chris Rushworth and Matthew Wood discuss cricket’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic, following on from previous episodes on cricket in the ’90s, the rise of women’s cricket, successful county captains and T20 pioneers which you can all see below.
