Royal London Sponsors Professional Cricketers’ Association Professional Cricketers’ Trust London, Friday 14th November 2014 Royal London’s sponsorship of the Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) Professional Cricketers’ Trust, marks a further connection between the UK’s largest mutual life, pensions and investment company and the sport. The sponsorship will extend through to the end of 2017. The Professional Cricketers’ Trust, a registered charity, sits at the heart of the PCA’s commitment to help current and former players and their dependants in times of hardship or to readjust to the world beyond the game. Royal London are valued partners of English cricket as title sponsors of both international 50 over cricket and the domestic 50 over trophy, The Royal London One-Day Cup (for both men and women). This new partnership represents an important development in the existing sponsorship and reflects one of the core business functions of Royal London of helping those planning for their financial future. The launch of the new PCA and Royal London relationship was celebrated today at the PCA Team England Lunch at Lord’s Cricket Ground ahead of the team’s departure to Sri Lanka on Sunday. The team was joined by Royal London’s trusty mascot, Gilbert, who entertained the crowds so valiantly during the first season. Clare Salmon, Group Brand Director, Royal London, said: “We have had a brilliant year supporting English cricket as a major sponsor. It’s as quirky, inclusive and British as we are. We share an obsession with jargon and quantitative performance analysis. We are delighted to be able to support the work of the PCA Professional Cricketers’ Trust, which does such valuable work in supporting current and past players in need. As a financial services company we believe in helping people plan for their financial futures; the PCA does a great job in helping professional cricketers plan for life beyond cricket and we very much want to be a part of that.” Commenting on its new sponsor, Angus Porter, PCA Chief Executive added: “We are absolutely delighted that Royal London, a true partner for English cricket, has chosen to offer generous support to the PCA Professional Cricketers’ Trust. With their help, we will be able to offer more help to more people, and for that we are very grateful.” England men’s cricket captain, Alastair Cook, said: “The PCA Professional Cricketers’ Trust is a cause close to the hearts of all professional cricketers, and is one of the four charities which I am supporting personally this year as part of my own Essex County Benefit. Well done Royal London!” {{ak_sharing}} Click here to read more about the PCA Professional Cricketers’ Trust Left-right: Katherine Brunt, England Fast Bowler, Marcus Trescothick, PCA Ambassador, Clare Salmon, Group Brand Director, Gilbert the Pelican, Royal London, Alastair Cook, England Captain, David Graveney, President, PCA Professional Cricketers’ Trust, Pete Gunovsky, Group Brand Manager.
