PCA Members Elect Vikram Solanki As New Chairman – 27/03/2009 The Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA), the representative body for past, present and future first class cricketers in England and Wales, is delighted to announce that Vikram Solanki of Worcestershire and England has been elected as its new chairman, replacing outgoing chairman Dougie Brown. The election was keenly contested with Shaun Udal, Dominic Cork, Mal Loye, Michael Brown and Stephen Peters also standing. The County squads took a close interest in the healthy debate between the candidates, all of whom are vastly experienced and respected cricketers. Vikram has captained Worcestershire for the last five years and also sits on the ECB Cricket Committee and the PCA Advisory Committee. Sean Morris, PCA Group Chief Executive, said: "The office of chairman is a crucial role in the PCA and I’m looking forward to welcoming Vikram into our senior management team. With nearly two decades experience of both domestic and international cricket, Vikram is well equipped to assist the PCA in its central role of working with the key stakeholders, to ensure improvement both on and off the field." Vikram Solanki said: "I am honored that the players have chosen me to represent them as their chairman. I intend to build on the superb work already being undertaken by the PCA, in acting in the best interests of our members and driving the game forward."
