Ingram enters all-time PCA MVP top six

Ingram enters all-time PCA MVP top six Glamorgan all-rounder Colin Ingram’s 46-ball century against Sussex helped to carry him into the top six of all-time match performances in the Professional Cricketers’ Association Most Valuable Player Rankings for the NatWest T20 Blast. Ingram’s century was the joint-fastest of the season in all cricket and earned him 38 rankings points towards a match haul of 47.52 points. Ingram also took two wickets for 27 in his four overs to help Glamorgan to an 18 runs win. The South African’s points haul took him to six in the list of all-time best performances in domestic T20 competitions since the PCA MVP Rankings were introduced in 2007. Ingram finished top of the NatWest T20 Blast rankings last season and is again in contention to finish top again. His performance against Sussex took him to the top of the competition PCA MVP but he has since been overtaken by Luke Wright of Sussex who followed up his own century against Glamorgan with a half century in last night’s defeat by Hampshire. Ingram is in the running for a double in the PCA MVP having already finished top of the rankings for this season’s Royal London One Day Cup. The PCA MVP Rankings system identifies the match-winners and key influencers of matches throughout the domestic season. The formula takes into account conditions, quality of opposition, captaincy and strike-rates as well as runs scored and wickets taken. Wright’s 101 against Glamorgan came from just 53 balls and earned him 38.71 rankings points the 25th best single innings performance in T20 rankings history. But Wright has twice recorded better performances in the competition – 41.38 points for his 66-ball 116 against Hampshire and 48.07 for his 153 from 66 balls against Essex, both in 2014. Essex’s former Essex all-rounder Ravi Bopara became the fourth player to reach the 1,000 career points landmark in T20 cricket in the defeat by Kent at Beckenham. Bopara’s match haul of six points took him to 1,004 points since 2007 with Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens the all-time leader on 1,197, Nottinghamshire’s Samit Patel on 1,165 and Lancashire’s Steven Croft on 1,020. Bopara is third in this season’s NatWest T20 Blast rankings on 41 points, two ahead of Yorkshire’s Adam Lyth and three clear of Hampshire’s James Vince. To see the full MVP table click here.
