Statement From Darren Gough – 21/01/04 I wish to confirm that for family reasons, I have today agreed with Yorkshire County Cricket Club that after 15 very happy years, I will leave the club. I am incredibly grateful for the support the club and the fans have shown me throughout my Yorkshire and England career and I would especially like to thank chief executive, Colin Graves, who as well as being my employer remains a true friend. Having joined Yorkshire as a YTS apprentice when I was 18, it’s been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. I was guided ultimately by the fact that I need to spend less time commuting and much more time with my young family. My definite aim is to continue playing first class and One-Day International cricket and I hope to be able to make a further announcement on my future within the next few weeks. Darren Gough
