Chairman of the PCA re-elected Mark Wallace, the Glamorgan wicketkeeper, has been re-elected as the Chairman of the Professional Cricketers’ Association. Wallace, 33, succeeded Vikram Solanki in January 2013 and was re-elected unopposed for a second two-year term of office at the PCA Annual General Meeting in Birmingham. ” Mark Wallace is a really good Chairman for the PCA. When Vikram Solanki stood down we thought he would be a tough act to follow, and indeed he was. But Mark has been brilliant” said Angus Porter, the PCA Chief Executive. ” He is fully engaged, he is always available and he offers a pretty clear steer on what he wants –which is all that anybody within an organisation like this can ask for. ” He has been very active on various ECB committees but he has also taken the time to be a role model for all the other players by winning a PCA Personal Development Scholarship and generally making sure that his personal development is as important as his cricketing performance. ” Of course while all this was going on, he achieved an unbroken run of four day appearances for Glamorgan of 215 games, which is an extraordinary achievement for any player, let alone a wicketkeeper.” Wallace became Glamorgan’s youngest wicketkeeper when he made his debut in 1999 and he captained the County from 2012 to last season. ” Being PCA Chairman is a great job, I’ve really enjoyed doing it. The first term has been fantastic and to have another two years is great” Wallace said. ” It’s a fantastic organisation, we have some great people involved in it and I think it is just going from strength to strength. ” I’m particularly proud of the Personal Development work that we do. I believe some of the stuff we are doing is world-leading – I don’t believe we are over-playing ourselves by saying that. ” Our Personal Development and Welfare team is fantastic. It continues to grow, it has great player buy-in and it is something that players both current and past have benefitted from. It’s something that we can all be very proud of.” {{ak_sharing}}
