David Payne’s Professional Debut

On 25 August 2009, an 18-year-old David Payne made his professional debut for Gloucestershire against Hampshire in the NatWest Pro40 Division One at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. Gloucestershire were bowled out for 181, with the hosts chasing down the target to win by three wickets. It was the first game of what would become a long professional career for Payne, who is now a globetrotting white-ball specialist.
