The MVP Teams of the Month for May have been announced using the PCA’s Most Valuable Player Rankings, powered by OFX.

Using the MVP’s unique algorithms, players have been picked based on their prowess with the bat, ball and in the field across the month of May with as many as 13 sides represented across the two teams.

The women’s side is captained by The Blaze all-rounder Georgia Elwiss who picked up 118.15 MVP points in May, the highest tally in the women’s game. She is joined by her fellow teammate and reigning PCA Women’s Domestic Overall MVP winner Kathryn Bryce. The Scotland captain finds herself in the PCA Women’s Team of the Month for the second time in 2025.

Lancashire’s Emma Lamb opens the batting for a second straight month and is joined by Essex captain Grace Scrivens.

Durham, meanwhile, have the most players named in the team with three, batter Suzie Bates, all-rounder Mady Villiers and wicketkeeper Bess Heath.

Warwickshire lead the team’s bowling contingent with Issy Wong and Georgia Davis. The latter earned the most bowling points in May with 41.92 after taking 11 wickets across the month.

In the men’s game, Warwickshire all-rounder Ed Barnard is given the captaincy of the side following a haul of 151.06 MVP points in May. The 29-year-old contributed 425 runs and took 16 wickets across the County Championship and the opening rounds of the Vitality Blast.

Meanwhile, Lancashire’s Keaton Jennings and Luke Wells open the batting in the men’s side. This means that along with Lamb from the women’s team, three out of the four openers come from the red rose county. The former picked up the most batting points with 110.76 after scoring 415 runs, including a century against Leicestershire in the County Championship.

In the bowling, Yorkshire all-rounder George Hill took 22 wickets in the month, including three five-wicket hauls to earn the most bowling points with 94.47. He is joined by fellow pace bowlers Kyle Abbott, Tom Taylor and Muhammad Abbas. Essex’s Simon Harmer, meanwhile, is the leading spinner in the side.

The PCA’s MVP system works by comparing a player’s accomplishments against the expected performance for that game. Runs and wickets achieved at each ground are also considered and compared to the average. This enables players to score or lose MVP points on every ball through CricViz’s extensive historical database, the rankings are a true reflection of performance.

The teams have been selected using a traditional, balanced side. This meant that despite picking up 82.65 points, Hampshire’s Georgia Adams misses out in favour of other all-rounders such as Bryce and Villiers as they had more MVP points than the 31-year-old.

Likewise in the men’s game, Yorkshire’s Adam Lyth was unfortunate to miss out with Jennings and Wells both earning more MVP points and thus occupying the two opening slots in the team.
