CRICKET AT OUNDLE AND THE SCHOOL

Oundle and Laxton Junior Schools have long been associated with the very best of modern independent education, especially boarding. The Schools take seriously their responsibility to pupils so that they can emerge as decent, open-minded adults; ambitious about what they can go on to achieve and contribute. Over 1400 pupils are on roll at the School, of whom 840 are full boarders. Academic results are steadfastly excellent.

A team of around 800 staff, both academic and support, ensure an education of the highest standard is in place across the Schools with the efforts of the whole team focused on this fundamental aim.

Oundle School has a large cricket programme with a fantastic cricket heritage and some of the best facilities in the Country. We have over 350 pupils representing the school in competitive cricket fixtures across 30 teams which highlights the depth and passion for boys’ and girls’ cricket within the School. The boys’ 1st XI play up to 25 matches per season, including a strong local circuit as well as an annual festival at the end of each summer.

Playing facilities include 8 grass squares and 2 cricket pavilions. Training facilities include 10 outdoor Astroturf nets, a block of 10 grass nets, cages and side nets to use on our squares and a 5-lane indoor sports hall with pace and spin bowling machines.

We use streaming software to live stream the majority of our boys’ 1st XI matches, in which the set-up and use of analysis would be required.

We are excited to embark on our next major boys’ and girls’ cricket tour to Sri Lanka in December 2025 in which six squads are going. The successful candidate would have the opportunity to join on this tour.

Whilst the candidate will prioritise the school’s coaching requirements, there would be scope to explore private coaching in evenings and holidays using our facilities and look into getting involved with our partner County Pathway, Northants CC.
