Player/Coach for 2022 Season – Bourton Vale CC

Bourton Vale Cricket Club is one of Gloucestershire’s leading cricket clubs in size and history. Situated in the iconic Cotswold village of Bourton on the Water.

The senior section of the Club has 3 Saturday league sides, with a 1st XI playing in the Gloucestershire league of the WEPL pyramid. The Junior section of the Club has over 100 members and balances the objective of providing cricket for all and developing individual players to reach their full potential.

The Club has excellent facilities with a new Club House built in 2019. The club is ambitious and wants to become the stand out club in Gloucestershire over the coming years. We are looking to grow and improve the coaching offer to its members and the wider-cricket community.

The Opportunity:

Bourton Vale Cricket Club wishes to develop its coaching capacity through the appointment of a Club Coach to be involved across all areas of the Club’s Cricket. The Club Coach will need to build upon the foundations that are already in place and continue to grow and improve cricket at the club working closely with Bourton Vale’s Chair of Cricket Committee and Club Captain.

The successful candidate will be required to coach both junior and senior sections of the Club and will also form a key link between the two sections. The main objective of the Club Coach will be to provide a high level of cricket coaching across the various age groups and push the performance aspect of individual players and the club collectively. The club would also like the coach to play in First Team on Saturday league matches to push the senior team forward to the next level.

Overall Assignment:

  • Play an active role in the Saturday First XI, helping the team push for promotion, attracting new players to the club.
  • Deliver the coaching programme for cricket working closely with the Cricket Committee, Club Captain and Junior representatives.
  • Improve and sustain the quality of cricket coaching across the Club.
  • Aid in the implementation of the programmes for cricket through the club.

Season Responsibilities:

  • Fulfil over 100 hours of coaching during the season.
  • Run training sessions for junior teams on Friday evenings throughout the season.
  • Be available to provide 1-2-1 coaching for club members.
  • Design and run cricket camps during school holidays (Easter and Spring Half-term and Summer Holidays) working in conjunction with cricket committee and other coaches.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of playing a High Level of cricket and the ability to still play at a high level.
  • Experience of coaching cricket to a high level in schools or clubs.
  • ECB Level Two coaching certificate or higher. BVCC will consider a strong candidate who has level 1 certification and is committed to attaining level 2 and beyond.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage others to deliver a rewarding cricketing experience
  • High degree of professionalism including punctuality.
  • As a focal point of the club, applicants need to have good social, organisational, man-management and coaching skills.
  • A supporter of the sporting ethos and traditions of Bourton Vale Cricket Club.


The position offers a negotiable starting salary with significant potential to supplement income through private coaching, cricket camps and other possible opportunities.
