About Wisbech Town Cricket Club:
Wisbech Town Cricket Club is a community-focused, competitive cricket club with a rich history and a strong presence in both senior and junior cricket. We run four senior teams and have over 100 junior players. Our aim is to provide a supportive and dynamic environment for players of all ages and abilities to develop their skills and enjoy the game. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced and driven Director of Cricket to lead and manage our cricketing operations.

Job Overview:
The Director of Cricket (Player Coach) will have overall responsibility for the strategic direction, development, and performance of the cricket section at Wisbech Town Cricket Club. This includes managing and mentoring senior players across four teams, overseeing the development of over 100 junior players, and ensuring the club’s cricket operations are run effectively. The successful candidate will need to play in the 1st XI in the Cambridgeshire & Huntingdonshire Premier League and should be UK Qualified and has played Premier League Cricket or above.

Key Responsibilities:
• Senior Teams Management: Oversee and manage the performance of the 1st XI, 2nd XI, 3rd XI, and 4th XI, ensuring high standards of performance, discipline, and development.
• Player Development: Work closely with both senior and junior players to develop their skills and potential, with a focus on long-term player development. Foster a culture of improvement, commitment, and sportsmanship.
• Coaching: Lead by example with active participation in training sessions and match days. Provide coaching and mentoring to players, particularly focusing on advanced cricketing techniques and strategies.
• Junior Cricket: Oversee and work closely with junior coaches to ensure the development of young players, including running coaching clinics, offer 1:1/small group coaching, summer camps, overseeing junior training sessions, and helping to integrate junior players into senior cricket when appropriate.
• Matchday Leadership: Participate in and lead by example in matchdays, including strategy planning, team motivation, and ensuring the teams are properly prepared for all fixtures.
• Club Growth and Strategy: Contribute to the strategic direction of the club, ensuring that cricketing activities align with the club’s goals for growth, sustainability, and community engagement.
• Collaboration: Work alongside the club committee, other coaches, and volunteers to maintain an inclusive and positive club culture. Act as a key figurehead for the club’s cricketing vision and ambitions.
• Talent Scouting: Identify and develop emerging talent both within the club and from external networks.

Skills and Qualifications:
• Proven experience playing cricket at Premier League standard or above, with the ability to play in the 1st XI.
• Previous coaching experience at senior and junior levels, preferably in a club or competitive environment.
• Strong leadership, communication, and motivational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple teams and players while maintaining focus on player development and team performance.
• Sound understanding of cricketing techniques, strategies, and player development.
• Enthusiastic and passionate about developing the game of cricket at all levels.
• Ability to work collaboratively with players, coaching staff, and volunteers.
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage logistics, match schedules, and team selections.
Desirable Attributes:
• Level 2 or 3 coaching qualification (or equivalent) from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) (or overseas equivalent)
• Experience working with young players and in talent development.
• A good understanding of club governance and working within a volunteer-driven environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in partnership with players, coaches, committee members, and the wider cricket community.
