Brewin Dolphin, one of the UK’s largest independently-owned private client investment managers, and is the proud main sponsor of The Big Bike Ride.

A team of six riders from the Cardiff, York, Leeds, London and Manchester Brewin Dolphin offices were part of the team of 62 riders who completed the challenge in October.
The PCA Benevolent Fund and the Tom Maynard Trust are two very worthy causes and we are proud to have been able to support them

We arrived at Lord's safe, sound, exhausted and elated on Tuesday 22nd October.

We set ourselves a massive target of raising £200,000, and at the present time, with committed rider monies still to come in, we are standing on an amazing £205,000!

As a trustee of the Benevolent Fund and the Tom Maynard Trust (TMT), it was a herculean effort by all those concerned on some of the most challenging routes of the country and both charities are indebted to each and every cyclist who put themselves through the mill.

We are also very appreciative of the overwhelming, generous sponsors who offered tremendous financial support, those that fed, watered, and put us up, as well as those that patched up both our bikes and us when we needed help.

But we’re also greatly appreciative to you, the members, who got behind the challenge in multiple ways including advertising, promoting, participating and contributing financially.
Your support sends out an incredibly strong message to everyone that the charities really matter and that as a group we’ll look out for each other in times of need, underlining the core values of the PCA.

Matt Maynard said, “Thank you very much for your amazing support. It was a very emotional five days for all of those involved and we owe a huge debt of gratitude to everyone who contributed, not just those who went through the pain barrier but everyone who made it happen.”

Marcus Trescothick, said, “It was fantastic that so many players from across the country came together to support the two charities. It was their opportunity to give something back and support their fellow professionals who are less fortunate themselves.”

We’d like to continue creating challenges such as this each year, or every other year and would love to hear any ideas that you may have.

Please contact Jason Ratcliffe on 07768 558050, or email j.ratcliffe@thepca.co.uk with your ideas.

HOW IT BEGAN…

After Lee Daggett (Northants CCC) proposed a big bike ride, the initial idea grew and developed into something extremely special.

After the tragic loss of Tom Maynard, and the PCA’s unique connection with Matthew and Tom, we joined together to make this a ride to remember in fundraising terms and to ensure there is a positive legacy for Tom's life.

The Tom Maynard Trust will exist initially to help the development of aspiring disadvantaged cricketers and other sports people who require support with different aspects of their career development, including bursaries, help with training and education, financial support for overseas placements and assistance with kit and equipment.
