Ryan ten Doeschate is the FTI T20 MVP Leader - 14/06/10It's the time of the year when it rains fours and sixes so it's no surprise that the man leading the FTI T20 MVP, Ryan ten Doeschate, is the player who has struck the most boundaries. The Eagles hit-man, who is also top of the overall FTI MVP, has blasted 19 fours and 16 sixes in his 247 runs from four T20 matches. Ten Doeschate has a strike rate of 1.87 runs per ball and has scored over 38% of the Eagles' competition runs. His two standout performances have come in front of the Sky cameras: 98 off 47 balls against the Spitfires at Chelmsford and 102 off 54 balls against the Panthers at Lord's. He has also taken three wickets and crucially concedes runs at just 6.82 runs per over. His T20 performances have helped him build his overall FTI MVP lead to 69 points. Defending T20 MVP champion, Darren Stevens, is another player who has carried his early-season form into this year's competition. Kent's player of the year in 2005 has been their standout player this summer, too, contributing four championship hundreds and useful wickets. Stevens has been entrusted with the new ball in the shortest form responding with five wickets but it's his middle order hitting, which has really caught the eye with 173 runs at a strike rate of 1.47 including 10 fours and 8 sixes. A resurgent Wes Durston is third in the FTI T20 MVP. The former Somerset man, who hit a hundred in the CB40 against Sussex for the Unicorns, has used his Champions League experience to good effect for new employers Derbyshire. He smashed 111 off 59 balls against Notts and 71 off 53 versus Durham. He has hit the third highest number of fours (21) in the competition behind his teammate Loots Bosman as well as having struck 9 maximums. World T20 winner and Sussex Sharks' captain Michael Yardy has once again shown his all-round pedigree in the shortest form, leading his team - the defending champions - to five straight wins. Yardy has scored 109 runs and taken six wickets at an impressive economy rate of just 5.06 runs per over. He has only struck 10 fours and one six but he is one of the best finishers in the county game with one of the coolest heads and will be missed by Sussex when he reports for England duty. Greg Smith is fifth with 114 runs including 10 fours and 6 sixes. The Derbyshire all-rounder, who has captained two T20 matches in the absence of Chris Rogers has also taken 10 wickets from just four matches conceding his runs at an economy rate of 7.72 runs per over. Big-hitting T20 sensation Kieron Pollard is sixth. The West Indian who plays for Trinidad and Tobago and the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, is third in the six-hitting stakes with ten maximums including one which landed in the top tier of the Lord's pavilion. His strike rate is 1.73 and he has scored 33% of the runs in the three games in which he has played.
