Personal Development Programme reshuffleAs many will know, we have undergone our PDW re-shape and recruitment process. For confirmation, we interviewed for the PDM post in your region a fortnight ago and after seeing 8 excellent candidates, have asked Nick Denning to take the post, which he has accepted and we envisage him starting on February 20th. Since finishing his professional cricket career with Essex, spanning 2003 until 2005, Nick has qualified as an ECB Level 3 coach and a Sports Therapist, completing and Advance Diploma in Clinical Sports Therapy After gaining full qualification and license to treat people, he took up roles working alongside physiotherapists in private clinics which led to work on the UK and Ireland tour of Starlight Express, the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical and toured with them for a year and a half. He then became self-employed and started up a private clinic working with a number of different sports teams including a national league hockey team consisting of international and Olympic athletes. On top of this he took on the role of Berkshire Women's 1st X1 coach, a role which allowed him to become involved with the ECB Women's set up and really build his coaching skills which culminated in a current role acting as Lead Coach for Berkshire Women's and Girl's cricket, coaching on EPP and putting into place an Academy program for boys and girls. In the intervening 3 and a half years until present, he has worked in the private health industry for Bupa and Now Health International. We're really glad we've appointed such a strong person to the role and somebody committed to helping the development and welfare of our cricketers. He will cover Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire. (I've attached the PDM job description) Rachel Newnham will now look after Kent, Essex, Middx and MCC YC's By way of an additional update, Charlie Mulraine has increased his commitment to the PDW Programme (in an expert consultant capacity) and will look after Northants and Leicestershire, in addition to the work he undertakes with past and present player generally. Special thanks go to Kate Green, who has previously covered this region with distinction. As you will know, Kate has taken up her new post with ECB, essentially covering the elite programmes, but she has kindly offered to help Nick find his feet and we very much appreciate her professionalism, commitment and continued support. Ian Thomas is now leading the overall PCA PDW provision and should you have any questions, please feel free to contact either me or Ian (07920 575 578).
