Frinton CC Take Revenge

PCA Masters were defeated by a club side for the first time in three years as Frinton CC took revenge for two defeats in previous matches.

The Masters top order was blown away by South African Greg Smith, bowling with pace and swing. At 50-6 there looked little prospect of reaching the final total of 183, but the old Surrey pairing of Jason Ratcliffe (68) and Irishman, Mark Patterson (38) put on 110 to give respectability.

In reply Frinton's batsmen were in merciless mood, taking 57 off the first 5 overs, a flood of runs which proved impossible to stem.

However, Paul Taylor bolwed 8 overs straight through with the new ball, conceeding just 25.

Frinton's overseas professional, Julian Goodyear, celebrated his 20th birthday with 92 not out from just 45 balls to send the PCA Masters home with tails between their legs after just 24 overs.

PCA Masters handed debuts to Tim O’Gorman, Paul Grayson, Mark Patterson and Andy Clarke.

The PCA Masters Side Included...

Tim O'Gorman, Paul Grayson, Roland Butcher, David Ward, Jason Racliffe, Ben Small, Andy Clarke, Mark Patterson, Steve Marsh, Paul Taylor, Edward Giddins.
