Owais made his first class debut at Middlesex in 1996 and scored a marvellous maiden hundred vs. Nottinghamshire at Lord's in 1997, which made him the youngest century scorer since Denis Compton.

During his 14 years at Middlesex, Owais has scored over 10,000 runs for the county, with 28 first-class hundreds and 10 one-day. A stylish and classical batsman, he made his England ODI debut in 2001 and after a fantastic season in 2005, made his Test debut in 2006.

Owais’ chosen charities during his benefit year are Friends of the Citizens Foundation and PLAN.
