Matt Walker is a left-handed batsman who has played 15 seasons and over 470 matches for Kent. He has been a consistent performer since his debut in 1992 and set a club record for the highest score by a Kent player at Canterbury in 1996 – 275 not out v Somerset. Matt was voted player of the year in 2004 after scoring 1266 runs and was appointed Kent's vice-captain in 2005. An excellent fielder, Matt scored 197 against Lancashire in July 2006, a season which saw him finish as Kent's player of the year again and leading run-scorer with 1419 championship runs at an average of 61.69.
