Darren BicknellEx-Nottinghamshire batsman, Darren Bicknell, now works for the Belvoir Castle Cricket Trust (BCCT), an East Midlands charity set up to help youngsters through cricket, which has recently received support from the CLA Charitable Trust with a cheque for £1,250. The CLA Charitable Trust is supported by the Country Land & Business Association and helps to provide facilities for the disabled and disadvantaged to take part in recreation and education in the countryside. Peter Geldart, Director of the CLA Charitable Trust said, “When we heard about the set up of the cricket trust at Belvoir, we wanted to help. Its aims match the objectives of our organisation so well. It was a nice coincidence that our annual fundraiser at the Game Fair could be at Belvoir this year. We hope to continue to support BCCT efforts as they develop their programme of activities for disadvantaged young people.” Her Grace the Duchess of Rutland, who is patron of BCCT, is pictured with Peter Geldart and the Cricket Trust Director, Darren Bicknell. About Belvoir Castle Cricket Trust The Trust's mission is to encourage participation in cricket in rural communities and to create access to cricket and the countryside for disadvantaged young people. Our target groups are young people who want to play cricket and enjoy the countryside, adults who want to develop their coaching skills, and families that want to strengthen their community ties through sport. |
