Park Plaza Riverbank Christmas Tree AppealWorld’s most valuable Christmas trees to be auctioned for children’s charity at Plaza on the River – Club and Residence Some of the world’s most prestigious, luxury brands are donating hundreds of pounds worth of their products to decorate a collection of special Christmas trees this year. Hundreds of valuable baubles and other goodies will adorn twelve trees standing up to twelve feet high and they will all be decorated by an elite band of specially chosen designers. The fund-raising scheme to raise money for the Evelina Children’s Hospital and the Tiny Lives Neonatal Appeal is the brainchild of staff at the Plaza on the River – Club and Residence. “We wanted to do something special this Christmas,” says Jan Jacobsen, Director of Sales, Plaza on the River – Club and Residence. “We want to give some special children a chance to create the world’s most expensive Christmas tree. We will then auction them off to raise money for the charities.” The Appeal has already attracted interest from a number of luxury brands. The Swarovski Crystal Company has agreed to donate a collection of pieces to the Appeal and Fortnum & Mason have also joined in the festive fund-raiser. The most elite group, and possibly the most sought after tree, will be designed by the residents of the hospital – the children. “This is a wonderful way to raise money for a deserving charity and give a lot of pleasure to people who see the trees in all their glory at the same time,” commented Victoria Lam from Fortnum & Mason. Plaza on the River – Club and Residence is looking for more sponsors. “We will have six trees in total,” says Jan. “Once the decorating is finished they will be displayed inside the hotel from 17th November 2008 and into the New Year until 6th January 2009. Bids for donations can be made throughout the festive season until 17th December 2008. The proceedings from the Silent Auction will be presented to the Evelina’s Children’s Hospital at a special event hosted at Plaza on the River – Club and Residence.
