Benevolent FundAt the age of 15, ex-Gloucestershire batsman, Dominic Hewson, was diagnosed with Persistent Atrial Fibrillation, a life threatening condition that causes his heart to beat quickly and out of sync, meaning his blood doesn’t circulate properly. It became worse in 2001 and after two unsuccessful operations in 2004, the condition forced him to retire from cricket. Recently, with the help of the PCA Benevolent Fund, Dominic underwent heart surgery again and had a Pulmonary Vein Isolation Ablation to try and correct the condition. The operation went well, although he will have to wait and see if it has been a complete success. We wish Dominic a very speedy recovery. |
