Phil Weston – What is he doing now?

I played more than 450 games in a career spanning 18 years with 3 county sides, the highlights of which would be 2 winners’ medals in Lord’s finals and, especially, a hundred in the 2004 final.

I did consider staying in the game in some capacity when I retired. However, the offer of an internship/full-time employment with Clydesdale Bank gave me the opportunity to put into practice knowledge that I had gained while doing a Business and Management degree.

The chance to move into banking was as a result of Clydesdale Bank’s sponsorship of the PCA, in which they are a Senior Commercial Partner and Official Private Banking Partner and so I was offered a 3-month internship for the 2007/2008 off season. The knowledge gained through my degree, coupled with skills I learned as a cricketer, really helped me deliver the relationship management approach that the Clydesdale model is built on, and this has brought me a great deal of personal satisfaction through meeting a diverse range of people/businesses.

Since joining, I have learned a great deal about the Bank and how, I believe, it offers a quality service to both businesses and private individuals. Essentially, our service is based on a traditional banking model from a network of Financial Solution Centres. Our customers (members) are looked after by a dedicated Private or Business Partner who work alongside other specialists in areas such as Wealth (investment/ protection), Asset Finance, Invoice Finance and Treasury. Members are referred to these areas should a need be identified. Unlike other Banks, these specialists are not isolated, as everyone works together, for your benefit, and this enables us to provide a seamless service.
