As Issue No.29 of All Out Cricket hits the shelves, we are still gasping for breath after England’s magnificent comeback in the Commonwealth Bank Series, which saw us beat hosts Australia two-nil in the best of three finals.
The Ashes was a different story as England’s injury-ravaged side were defeated by the strongest, most focused team on the planet. Australia were irrepressible: all were fit, all were in form. Four of their team had played 100 Tests, and two more 80-plus. That’s a formidable package. England were soundly beaten, but they are young and will certainly bounce back, stronger for the experience.
Justin Langer
One of those 100-Test veterans is Justin Langer, whose retirement along with Messrs Warne and McGrath brought a regal era to a close. In a cracking interview, former Kent skipper David Fulton tracks him down, and gets Langer riffing on the mythology of the Australian cricket team. Essential reading.
