Ryan ten Doeschate is the New FTI MVP Leader - 10/05/10
Ryan ten Doeschate is the new leader of the FTI MVP following more heroics in the CB40. The Essex all-rounder smashed the Gloucestershire attack all over Chelmsford with 84 off 53 balls, which included nine fours and two sixes, only a week after he posted 109 off 62 balls against Derbyshire. Ten Doeschate is ranked second in the FTI CB40 MVP and third in the FTI LV=CC MVP where he has scored three fifties and taken 15 wickets including 5-13 against Hampshire. Across both forms he has scored 463 runs and taken 18 wickets.
The FTI MVP player of the month for April, Neil Carter, has dropped to second after a quiet week with the ball against Kent. He did make valuable contributions with the bat, however, scoring 43 and 37 not out as Warwickshire won an enthralling contest by 44 runs at the St. Lawrence ground. Carter has scored 307 runs and taken 24 wickets across both forms, 235 and 22 of which have come in the Championship, where he is ranked first. Of those 22 scalps, 16 have been top-order players.
Robin Martin-Jenkins also drops a place - to third overall - as Sussex failed to record a victory for the first time this season. Martin-Jenkins' 4-46 in the second innings in the defeat to Middlesex has taken his wicket tally to 22 in the LV=CC where he is ranked second behind Carter. He has now scored 372 runs and taken 24 wickets across both forms.
Jacques Rudolph is in fourth spot with 728 runs, which makes him the country's leading run-scorer. The South-African has scored 518 runs in the LV=CC including a career best 228 versus Durham, and 210 in the CB40, which represents 30% of Yorkshire's competition runs. Scores of 101, 83 and 26 have seen the Tykes top their group in the CB40 as well as the Championship.
Derbyshire's Greg Smith is in fifth with 408 runs and 21 wickets. He is ranked seventh in the FTI LV=CC MVP having scored 341 runs, including two fifties and 165 against Glamorgan, and taken 17 wickets including three four-fors.
Chris Woakes played a key role in Warwickshire's victory over Kent taking 3-43 in the second innings as the home side were bowled out for just 156. Woakes, who had an extraordinary week the previous round against Hampshire scoring 136 and taking six wickets, knocked over Joe Denly second ball of Kent's run chase and finished the match by flattening Makhaya Ntini's middle stump. He has scored 247 runs and taken 19 wickets, 198 and 17 of which have come in the LV=CC where he is ranked fifth.
Alfonso Thomas is up to seventh overall after taking seven wickets in the LV=CC match at Old Trafford including the first four wickets to fall in Lancashire's second innings. Thomas has scored 131 runs and taken 21 wickets across both forms and has been particularly impressive in the CB40 recording figures of 3-27 and 4-34 in the first two matches.
Andrew Gale has been given many plaudits for Yorkshire's remarkable start to the campaign. Gale, appointed skipper over the closed season, has responded to the challenges of leadership by steering Yorkshire to the top of the Championship and their CB40 group. He has scored 549 runs overall including two centuries in the LV=CC and one in the CB40 against Essex.
Overseas players Chris Rogers and Rana Naved make up the top ten. Rogers has scored 27% of Derbyshire's runs in the Championship, while Rana has been instrumental in Sussex's strong start to the season with 223 runs and 25 wickets.
