Skin Cancer Screening
The PCA and sk:n take the matter of skin care and the dangers of long term sun exposure very seriously. We are working closely together to raise awareness of the dangers, screening players and umpires to ensure that any signs are detected and treated early.
sk:n will be touring the county cricket grounds during pre-season to provide screening to all cricketers. The skincare awareness campaign will be extended to supporters and their families at matches by the attendance of sk:n clinic staff, helping to educate about the dangers of sun exposure and the necessity for sun protection creams and hat-wearing.
• Skin cancer affects more than 100,000 people in the UK every year
• There are 2,500 deaths from skin cancer every year, in people
aged 16 and above
• The majority of skin cancers are completely curable if detected
and treated early
• If you notice a change in size, colour or shape in any mole or mark
on your skin - seek medical advice
• Adequate sun protection all year round reduces the risk of cancer
