PCA Corporate Cricket Clinic - Mon 10th March
On the 10th March the PCA Masters in association with Sky Living for Sport and Youth Sports Trust hosted an afternoon of cricket coaching for young people on the margins of school life.
The master class, headed by Jimmy Hindson (former Nottinghamshire and ECB level III coach) with Nick Knight (former Essex, Warwickshire and England) and Dean Headley f(ormer Middlesex, Kent and England), proved an excellent opportunity for Sky Living for Sport to show how it helps young people by focusing on re-engaging the 11 - 16 year olds, boosting their confidence and self esteem and getting them back into the class room.
The project which used cricket on this occasion as the exciting sporting activity to give inspiration and incentive for young people to succeed and achieve their potential also uses many different sports and is monitored and evaluated externally by the Institute of Youth Sport since in conception.
Following the young people's master class the PCA held its first PCA Masters Corporate Cricket Clinic at Lord's Indoor School. This involved 25 of the PCA's commercial partners joining PCA Masters - Nick Knight, Gladstone Small, Jimmy Hindson, Dean Headley and Paul Prichard for a session to improve all aspects of their game. The afternoon started with a light lunch and a briefing before the PCA Masters put them through their paces in the nets. Following the session the clinic's pupils relaxed in the bar while digesting the personal tips given to them by their coaches.
